I started editing because I was already filming things I cared about and didn't want the footage sitting on a drive. Three years of shooting and two of editing taught me the same lesson from both sides: the story isn't in the shot. It's in the order the shots come in, and in what you're willing to cut.

Most of the work is structural. Where the music should actually start. When a scene works better in silence. Why a cut feels right at one length and drags at another. The software is the easy part.
